Making Money with Music

Want to earn some money for your hard work or should I say your creative work. Look no further guys. The player on this site could literally change your life and feed your hobby or life interest. I may have mentioned it before but I'm putting this up here on the forum so all can see at all times. I once made a news letter and walked around to different stores to ask them if they would buy an ad spot in this news letter and that I was going to deliver this news letter to 1000 homes in the area. It was amazing the results I got, in 9 hours or 3 days doing this for a few hours each day I landed 13 stores who bought ads for this news letter. I decided to take this idea with a twist and apply it to this site, and I think it will work for everybody who gets involved. There are literally millions of so called stores here on the internet and there are thousands of local opportunities too. The stores in your general area who are now starting to realize that they need or want that internet thing too. We could easily convince some of them to put ads here on this site too. You may ask why should I help you with this site? good question. Look around you on the internet, most sites do this, they put up a site and offer free memberships so they can have thousands of users and then they can get all of that advertising money and they keep almost every red cent of it. You will not see 1 penny of this as a user. This site will offer free accounts too and ultimately get thousands of users who are a little more serious about their work I'm hoping and with the Premium account this says to advertisers that these users are more serious and also more qualified to buy something since they at least paid for an account here. So now when I get advertisers for the site I could conceivably charge more but even if I didn't I should be able to attract more advertisers to this site. With all of this being said you as a user like no other site offers will receive part of this advertising money that is earned from this site. How cool is that, I'm not talking chump change here I am talking 25% commission on the ad money placed on one of your songs that is on the player. Lets face it, most of us will never land a major record deal, some of us might and that is great. In the mean time there are other ways to get noticed for your music and to make money from it as well. Now do you see what I mean about Musicians Helping Musicians?

How it works is like this, you get a business to take out an ad next to your song. This ad space cost $50 for a 1 minute duration spot available for 30 days. Most businesses would have to pay hundreds of dollars for this kind of exposure. If you have a song that is 4 minutes in length, which is about the max for a song on this player. You will be able to put 4 ad spots next to this song which would cost $200 of which you would receive $50 commission for it's placement. You can also make additional money by selling ad space on another musicians song space . The owner of that song would receive 25% commission and you would still receive 10% commission for placing the ad there. Also if the business purchases 6 months of advertisement up front they will get a front page ad spot on the web site as well.

I will also be offering special advertisement for Agent's and Venue/Bars who send users to this site who subscribe to the $12 per year Premium membership subscription. The way this works is, these Venues or Bars will be already booking musicians that they could send to this site. Once they have booked any musician from this site who is a premium member they will get free advertisement the following week of the booking of that Musician. They can book the same Musician 4 times consecutively, after that they have to book a different Musician from the site to get continued advertisement. There is absolutely no cost to these businesses to do this. It's a win win for everybody involved here on this site. The first thing that a business will wonder is why should I be concerned with advertisement on a site that is not in my local market. Two reasons, first they may think it is a local market but it is not. There are many restaurants who thought this way too but now are known all over the world as the famous (fill in the blank), answer, exposure expands the local market to a recognized area market, making some places even known as landmarks. It depends on how large you want to think. Second reason at no cost to these businesses except for a little word of mouth and pointing people to this site, is that the more of these businesses who contribute to this site by musician referrals also reap the benefits of the sites natural local growth, in turn these musicians will refer more and more musicians and the growth becomes more viral. This is good for all businesses involved as well as the musicians because now if they want to find out everything about the businesses it will be on a site that they are actively part of.

Lets all get together once and for all and make the music industry wake up. We have to beat them at their own games and that my friends is simply --- MARKETING!!! LETS GET VIRAL ON THEIR ASS!!!

hell we get enough musicians making money through the player we will just have to produce our own site wide label controlled by all of us. Would someone shut me up already jeesh!!

Actually I'm very serious

Actually I'm very serious about making this happen, and I will do anything I possibly can to make it happen for all of the Premium users on this site. All user including the free account will get exposure. But I am trying to build incentive for people to join the Premium accounts and in order to do this their has to be some real return on their time and investment here on this site. I think the programs I am trying to set up are going to ultimately help everyone involved and that includes the Agents and Venues participation on this site by sending people this way. I know this is not the coolest looking site but do we really need another cool looking site that just puts you into this little friendship or already existing fan base group. Have you ever realized that the only way you get new people or fans on those kind of sites are from word of mouth and self promotion. Once in awhile you will get another band through them working their self promotion. This is called networking and it does work. So if you already have those networking skill sets and know how to apply the group concept. Why not make money by doing these processes. This is where Jamacast comes in with a real world difference. I will pay for your efforts by setting up real commission based and referral payout systems and marketing programs that help everyones work. Lets say this program starts to catch on from a venues point of view a little ways down the road. They now have a larger pool of people to select from and an incentive to do so. As the site grows within local circles and then these local circles start to get wider or overlap. Now the options to recruit more fresh bands is more clear to these venues, as well as more incentive because they can now keep up that free advertising to a larger and continually growing local area coverage. This is also a great built in way for bands to get booked when they would not otherwise have the ability or notion to get booked at some places. They may just be the next natural selection for a venue to pick just so they can get their free advertisement. These Venues will have options in the future which I already have the custom code for in place I just have no reason to launch at the moment and that is the ability to have their entire menu and dynamic coupons and events. This site from my perspective has to start building up a larger following first before I start getting more people involved in the development side of it. Currently I'm setting up a Gig Calendar for the Premium users to have for any event they may have. I'm testing it out right now and it is just one more way to have that connection with the real world.

well...

the internet IS my only friend when it comes to music, i don't know about money, but i praise what you do IGTB.

Now you might question me "don't you have a local audience or something ? " the answer is no. what i do is not credited here ( my country ) mainly because it's considered "crap".
on the other hand i have a lot of fun doing this , making friends along the way , not really a man for the money.

but recently i started wondering how cool it would be if i had x and y. and then it hit me that i can't afford x and y. and i'm not the only one :)

I see your point and

I see your point and perspective coming from another country. Your country might not support what you do but the Internet certainly could. I was taking a gander at various genres on reverb and other web sites and I was WOW factored by how many people world wide appreciate the kind of music that you do. There may not be a main stream market for it at the present but there are definitely different ways out there to propagate your style of music. Some examples that come to mind are some of the movie fillers and trailers that have bits and pieces of your type of work. Who knows, as this site grows perhaps an agent will recognize your talent and make you an offer of some kind. You may even be able to package a CD for some Techno Clubs. Your motives can be for free or money, it's your choice either way, it's always your Gig here.

I can see it too. Put it away!

Over here in England your type of tunes go down well and my mates often comment on them, i dont hype you up to them beforehand, i just play tunes by folk i know to see what their reaction is to the tune being played and ive never heard a negative one yet. Yeah the market may be full to brimming with dance music but that just means you have to try a bit harder which is a step that probably 90% of dance tune creators dont bother taking cos they weren't really that serious about it in the first place, its a hobby for them, like making pc music is a hobby for me, i really dont think im gonna be offrered any deals with what i do using a pc in the near future, Im more suited and understand the live band thing really. I agree with IGTB movie fillers and trailers is an excellant suggestion and its not like they're gonna stop making tv, adverts and movies in the near future. In fact all you Tecno guys should look into that area, imagine that "what do you do for a job?" "Oh ..i just sit at home making music for the media" ive heard of worse jobs. If i-spy anything like that ill let e know.

Yes, I am looking into a

Yes, I am looking into a module for e-commerce and I want to tweak it for people on the site to list tunes for sale. I am waiting on the developers to make a mod for the version I need. Also it has to be able to set up multi accounts since each user will have to have their own secure connection to their own paypal accounts for payment processing. It will happen here at some point. Feel free to link out to some of your own websites that offer it for now though.

England is nice if you go to the right places, im lucky enough to live in the countryside where crime is relatively low and everyone knows everybody else and its hard to get away with anything, and murder is unheard in these parts. In the cities its a different story, greed selfishness, ignorance, theyre like any other cities in the world, they have this social, commercial, consumer, pull the ladder up Jack, i'm all right disease. If you ever do come to this Godforsaken island let me take you through the streets of a city and ill show you something that will make you sick and ill also take you somewhere else that'll make you smile. Personally i would waste my hard earned pennies. The grass is never greener on the otherside of the hill.

Update

This forum post is old , but at the same time essential for people to understand what we are trying to do as a whole here at Jamacast other than creating great music. We have to get the word out as to how the site will benefit users who join and utilizing advertising money to promote Independent Musicians work. We are currently seeing a big flux in unique visitors coming to this site. we are constantly adding interesting content for everybody to enjoy. This post itself has been read over 150 times at this moment I type and below is a link of the hosting stats to let all visitors and users see for themselves what is actually happening here as far as visitor stats are concerned. Somewhere around half of the visitors are spending as much as 30 minutes to 1 hr on average stay time on the site.

The Premium membership is now only $9.00 for a year subscription and any advertiser who advertises on the player will also get a front page ad link to there site So start talking up advertising to anyone you know who wants internet exposure for their site.

Also the Gig Calender is gone bye bye, it was reporting too many error massages on Google stat site. If I start to get bands on the site who need it I will bring it back also if Venues advertise on the site I will be glad to set them up their own personal Gig and Event calender as well.

I will keep this file link above updated from time to time so everyone can have a general picture of the site responses we are having.

My site stats, lol

I'm glad you're getting more traffic! Great! check out my website's stats for the past week... amazing, lol!

Necromanos Site Stats

Of course the only place my site is listed is on whatever profiles I have at various places. So I'm not upset.

Exposure

Yes, this is why I keep saying that profiles are not the answer for the majority of people on music sites. They still have to be found and searched out. Prime front page real estate is the only way to get major exposure. Even though your site is not getting user views after all of the time you have been networking on all of these other sites via profiles. You will at least get viewed by the people who visit this site because you will always have front site exposure. Yes this placement will change in incremental percentages as the site grows, but that is why this site is a group collective so that if one gets exposure all get exposure. At least this is what Jamacast is striving to accomplish. This is truly the mission statment this site is trying to set up for Independent musicians to understand. We are growing forward that is a good thing for all of us.
