Put up any (Global) or (Event) Comments you would like here on this post that pertain to Trac1 of the Proj II Collaboration. There is also a file folder in the Jamacast Cool Lab area for Comments of each type inside of the Trac1 Folder.
Apparently, I overestimated my ability to get up early on a non-work day. Stayed up too late noodling on guitar tracks. Would have liked to have been there.
No problem Necro we can get you up to speed on the next one. Only myself and Asa made it to the meeting anyhow. Not too much was missed. We decided to have these meetings every other week instead of weekly too. The time thing is tough for us but it might be tougher for the Euro Guys if it were any different, they are approx 5-6 hrs ahead of us. Maybe at best we could bump it up an hour or so like at 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM Central U.S time which would translate to 15:00 and 16:00 GMT in the U.S. We have to consider the next day would be a workday Monday and Saturday follows the Friday night out thing. I am open for suggestions though. We also talked about having the meetings for two different groups but that kinda splits us up too, which might not be so good maybe on a collab thing?
i mean .. create a special page where we put all the collab stuff there ... and info .. and chats .. and other ..
i hate when i read so much on a page and then " check that page .. download from that .. come back here and discuss .. go there again to post modified stuff .. go in another place .."
why can't it be compact ?
The Forum posts are mainly intended for everyone to see. Even people who are not premium members can view this. This is more for developing interest in the overall what is going on behind the scenes kinda thing. It can also be used for us to just make some general comments on the track1 or even other things like this post, it's basically a catch all forum. For organizational efforts, the Jamacast Cool Lab has everything we need actually. Just go to the Users/Proj_II_WIP folder and you will find folders Track01-11 there. Inside of the Track01 folder is three folders Track01_Comments, Track01_Piece_Contrib and Track01_Rough_Mix folders. These folders are where most of our work will be done. Just make sure you use the file naming convention that we have discussed on the Jamsys Meetings. Inside of the Track01_Rough_Mix folder there is an example of the first file we are working on. Put pieces of individual sound files into the Track01_Piece_Contrib folder. Mainly you will use the Track01_Rough_Mix folder because you can use your local system or your personal folder for work you are working on before presenting it to the Users/Proj_II_WIP folder area. The Jamsys area is for all of us to just talk about things pertaining to the Project II effort. For Comments you will see that there are two different types of comments to be made generally pertaining to the Proj II WIP and those comments are Global or Event type. Event type comments are like you telling one of us, hey IGTB on Track01_IGTB_20080406_1345.mp3 at location event marker 34-67 needs some boost in bass etc. Global comments are hey IGTB that track really sucks redo it please haha. Just go into the Track01_Comments folder and you will find the two folders that pertain to these kind of comments on the project tracks. Just upload a text file there and name it the same name as the track you are commenting on except give it a txt extension. Even if there was some web page console for this whole operation it would still require individual organizational effort and as it grew it would still be work in trying to make since out of it all. Not really to much one can do to change this even experts in the field of collaboration are constantly changing and renaming screw ups that the collaborators have done.
Coming in the future as soon as bandwidth costs are figured out I will be installing a Skype Module for the Premium users to replace the current Jamacast Chat Lounge. I may still keep the Lounge just as a safety net in case We run into glitches with the Skype Module or at least until it has been thoroughly tested anyhow. I hear the new version of Skype offers a lot of features for group meetings and file sharing, looks very promising.
Another important note is that Asaguare is creating some cool tools for the Jamsys area and eventually this area may itself become fully featured for Collaboration efforts. Asaguare is a very good programmer and is very motivated and interested in making this collaboration happen. He has begun work on a tool called Fabric which will also help in the organizational process of ths Project II and other projects in the future. Way to go Asa!!
I should be able to make the next Proj II meeting.
