Activity

I have been looking carefully at the activity for this site for a little over two years now. What I have determined is that there are far more casual users over active users. Having only a small group of users and even a smaller group from these users who actually are regular contributors of content. I have made a business decision to make the site more exclusive by putting an activity requirement and alert system in place. I have tried this in the past, and thought it might be a deterrent for growth of the site, so I turned that feature off. With the site the way it currently is going, this might actually make the site better. I think the site may gain users at a slower rate but they will be more serious about participating. I also need to consider that this site will be paying out with revenue sharing and this could draw a lot of people who have no intention to be independent musicians, but rather collect revenue sharing without even contributing any music. This means that if you are not going to be active you will lose the right to receive any revenue from this site. I will set this up in a way to make it not to harsh or demanding, a system that any musician should be able to handle. Right now I have in mind something like -- If the user contributes no original music content within three months then they will receive a reminder notice. After six months of no contribution to the site they will receive another reminder that says they will be removed from the site in one week unless some original music content is put up onto the site.

We can't sustain a viable site for the long haul with just three to five of the same people putting up content . People who are visiting this site are looking for and expecting fresh new material as well as new artists. There is simply no excuse for a member of this site to not contribute something within a six month period.

You may have noticed the big banners at the top of the page. This banner area is for musicians and premium paying advertisers only. This banner area will be very limited and expensive for advertisers. It will also be used on occasion for special events and concert announcements. If you are interested in having your banner placed on this area just PM me for the details.

as of 08-2009 I have taken off all requirements to get your bands banner ad on the site except for two easy ones. These requirements are
1)become a Jamacast user which is always free!!!
2)select available on the booking status drop down option within your user settings area.

I will be adding a site stat chart on the site that shows the unique visitors for this site. Just remember to add 11,000 to the number it shows to get a closer figure to what is actual. This 11,000 represents the number of unique visitors that the old Jamacast site had before moving over to this new host site.

Eventually, I will add the PHP code to allow for these banner ads to link over to your own site preference.
