Off Mission

IGTB's picture

Well I hate to appear as just a dreamer, but I think that is the case if you read over my past Blogs and look for the results of such ideas, plans, procedure, etc uh hum dreams. All of my ideas more or less have been a work in progress, tweak as you go kind of approach. Lets face it though, the fact is, until Jamacast has reached a point where financial streams are a reality, and it will, I have got to stay on course with the basics. I think I will probably delete some of those Blogs simply because I have reached a stage with Jamacast, to where I know now where it needs to head and what order things need to be done. In the past I had just thrown things up in the air to see where they might land. For instance the live concert plan /dream, maybe in the future we will do some small ones. There is just too many procedures, laws, and liabilities to follow. Ok, now the big one, is slamming the RIAA productive or is it self destructive? I think most people feel the same way about these organizations but they are also realists, and understand that in order to make it in the music production world they have to ride the tide. I still disagree with the business model and tactical methods that the RIAA use, but I also realize they are going through changes they don't truly understand themselves with the new models forming on the web.

Conformity is an interesting concept. Many countries have conformed to their long enduring systems such as Communism, Monarchism, Democratic etc. Are we trying to create something here somewhat similar but in a business / Music world? Can we truly buck the music world systems?

What do you guys think?

Mission realigned

Most missions are having specific structure and character, allowing to follow predefined rules that proved to be successful in the past. A bit of improvisation, and the rest is just going through the holy checklist step by step. Reaching milestones is merely a matter of time.
However, that doesn't apply to a bulky project such as the Jamacast site, even less when being maintained by one person only. Reminds me to some of my own larger programming projects where development has been far from straightforward. Modules, layouts and strategies had to be tested and compared over and over. New ideas and prospects used to arise suddenly and had to be given a try. Many a promising feature has been integrated and was neglected thereafter though. A pretty much creative process, requiring a good amount of time, but also affording experience and fun, which is essential for motivation and advancement. Dreams are a mainspring for all kinds of projects, thus an indispensable factor for Jamacast as well.

As to bucking the music system... yes, I believe that new technologies and distribution channels, provided by the internet in particular, will disintegrate gridlocked traditional structures by and by, as a growing number of people has the heart to horn in and participate in the discussion more effectively than it would have been possible decades ago. Admittedly I'm not sure to experience a plenary breakup of the RIAA (or similar systems respectively) within my lifetime ;o)

Good Points

You are so right, great analysis. I agree the process is one that will have to be handed down or up for future generations to progress forward. What will probably happen in reality is the RIAA and the likes of the big players in the music business will adapt to these new models, and they will migrate from more conservative thinking to a more liberal one. Liberal in the since of allowing more flexibility and with more freedoms afforded to the artists. Their first steps will have to be with breaking down the glass ceilings in which most musicians are feeling with artistic control as well as monetary gains.

As far as the Jamacast mission goes, It is simple in design. Build an alliance of independent (multi genre), independently organized, independently controlled Musician base. We all strive to do this as a helping and sharing group of musicians striving to build a union if you will, joint efforts to obtain the means to self propagate our works of art to the people of masses.

Along the way Jamacast has tried different flavors of various things exploratively. Like a kid in a candy store who can't make up his or her mind on which type or flavor to try. I should have titled this Blog Off Focus. Admittedly I have been off focus a bit, but I have a new found inner energy to apply to my Jamacast motivation process. I actually feel very good about where Jamacast is heading, and will soon beef up efforts on social networking. Yes I will be so glad when I can sit back and just concentrate on creative efforts and social networking. Just two more major steps with the site and I can take off all of those multi colored hats and get busy. Once I get there, watch out, here I come hehe

Groove On !!!
